Enter to Win a Blu-Ray Combo Pack of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey

We're going to try something new here, we were contacted with the chance to give one of you lucky readers a free copy of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey. Incidentally, I just watched this weekend. VV and I thoroughly enjoyed it and are ready for the next installment. I grew up reading Tolkien and just love the movies! Visit my blog, (see link in the comments) if you don't already subscribe for details. There are no tricks, no big questionnaires, no mailing list (the only one who has to give me an address is the winner)... it's just an easy way to win a cool movie DOTR style (Dad on The Run=DOTR, Lord of The Rings=LOTR... coincidence? I think not). Shares are appreciated because I'm always looking for new readers and your friends might want a chance to win. Check out the window below then scroll down for details on entering.

All you'll have to do if you win is provide me with your name and address (No P.O. Boxes please) and I'll have them ship it out to you. So here's what I'm thinking. Rack your brain for Hobbit trivia (freshen up by playing their game or perusing the Hobbit handbook) and share with us here on the blog --Not On Facebook-- how your child most likely resembles any character of the The Hobbit. Imagination and humor will be rewarded among our reader/voters I'm sure. I'll select the top 10 and put them up for voting on March 31st and select a winner on April 2nd. The window above has everything you need to know and its a cool little place to explore the movie and get ideas for the contest! Tweets, Shares, Pins, Likes and +'s are always appreciated.

  1. Spoiler Alert!

My son, Aedan, is definitely a real life Smaug the Magnificent. He sleeps atop his golden (or in this instance, plastic) horde, he knows every piece of crap he owns, and as Tolkien said about Smaug's rage, so too with Aedan's, it "is only seen when rich folk that have more than they can enjoy lose something they have long had but never before used or wanted."

Daily i find myself cowering in my apartment for fear of he all encompassing power. I tiptoe past his lair for fear of awaking said terrible beast. And still he has a weakness. Where Smaug's was upon his left breast, Aedan's is in his stomach. When you give a dragon (or toddler) a cracker, they shut up. At least, long enough to devour it.

  2. Apparently my first comment didn't go through. Thankfully, I remember what I posted so I'll comment again.

Aedan also seems to enjoy his mother's interpretive dancing. I'm not sure where he gets that.

  5. I have a family of elves-my son Canyon is 4 and I have boy girl twins-Raven and River who are almost 21 months. All three are beautiful creatures who love to spend their time outside in nature. Canyon has a magical way with geese and swans-they totally are not afraid of him and let him walk right up to them. Raven is quite the artist and River loves to make little sing song noises.

  6. My son is Gollum...how horrid you say? I think not. He is not at all unattractive (for what mother would say their son is). He is not bone thin (I am his mother after all). He does not live in a cave, because a cave would never have as much clutter as his bedroom...but he is almost as obsessed with his "Brown" as Gollum is with the ring. Brown is a blanket that he stole from me 6ish years ago, one of those ultra soft down filled ones that doesn't lose its softness...but it has lost all of it's down! It has had many adventures, not as harrowing as the ring, but it has been to or through 14 states and D.C. yet it somehow still has the magic power to find its way back into his bed. It is precious indeed!

  7. I volunteer at the local animal shelter and someone brought in this new born kitten who would die if not taken care of 24/7, so I took it home. My daughter who was 2 would pet it over and over and over and say "he so pweshious" and it was an ugly and awkward kitten, so skinny and all ears we named him Smeegal. Here's the 2 of them as babies. :)

  8. Some days I feel like I'm living with Orcs, but today, I was with perfect little hobbits - 7 am - wake up mom, it's time for breakfast. 8:30: we're hungry. 10 am: is it time for lunch yet? No? We need another snack. 11:30 we're hungry again. Noon - lunch was consumed. 12:25 what do you mean it's nap time? We didn't eat lunch yet.
